Ever since we were little and heard a strange noise in the silence we’ve been told it’s just the house creaking, it’s just the wind outside, it’s just this, or it’s just that. We get comfortable with these answers and accept them, but what really are these noises? What is the energy that sparks these occurrences? Just now I was laying in bed with only my fan on and from inside my closet comes a small, but loud tap, as if someone flicked the inside of it. I looked at the closet, shrugged my shoulders and kept about my business because that’s what I was taught to do. Then for a moment I decided to not be comfortable with it and let it fester, then I got to thinking. I’ve heard this noise many times. Almost every night when I first moved into this room. I tried to think back to if I had been in the same mind set every time I heard it, fully relaxed and somewhat somber. For some reason that feeling, that energy, sparks something that once was here. Something where my closet now sits. Something that had a very strong emotional tie with that same feeling. Something that existed two years ago or one hundred years ago. Our energy has sparked each other. Perhaps adults worry a thought process such as this will open too many portals for a young one so we teach comfortability in strange sounds and the strange itself.
